Redecorating My Room

By 9:00 AM , , ,

Spring is coming! See how I made my own inspiration/memory headboard and how you can make one too.

This all started with my sister telling me that my room looked like it belonged in an Ikea store. Although that might be a compliment to most of you, I took it a little personal. My room is my sanctuary; I want it to reflect me. I had seen this DIY done with only photos so I decided to do my take on it by adding fake and real plants, concert tickets, and other little memory tokens. Whats great about this is that it can always be easily changed!

The Basics

1.String - Any kind of string/yarn/twine/rope will do as long as it is not too thin or too thick. I found mine at a local dollar store. You can find one here.

2.Support - I used these clear hooks that I had from another DIY. If you dont have these you can use tape, but it may not give the same clean look. With tape, the string starts to fall more into a 'U' shape from the weight of the photos. But if you want something easy and quick go ahead and try it!

3.Glue - Although I did not use actual glue, youre going to need something to "glue" the look together. You can literally glue your staple pieces on or use clothespins, staples, clips, etc. I found some at my local dollar store but you can find some here.

4. Decorate! I added both fake and real plants that I already had. You can use buttons, flowers, streamers, letters, etc. The more effort and thought you put into your piece the more you will enjoy it! Here is how mine came out.

  9. I would take it as a compliment but I can understand you wanting to add a little something after your sister said that. The memory band is a great idea, and having it right over your bed will give you a smile whenever you wake up.
